What happens at your first assessment?

Your first session is a full hour with Carly. She takes your history, asks what you need to get back to, then screens how you move, how strong you are and what the problem area is doing under load.

You leave with a working diagnosis in plain English, the first steps of your plan, and a clear idea of how progress will be measured.

Motorsport athlete performance can help you to:

Hold your head steady under lateral G

Sustained lateral G loads the neck lap after lap. Targeted cervical and trunk strength is the foundation of driver conditioning.

Keep your grip strong to the end of a stint

Steering and braking demand endurance in the hands and forearms. It is trainable, and often overlooked.

Stay sharp when the cockpit runs hot

Cockpits run hot and heart rate stays high. Conditioning keeps decisions sharp deep into a stint.

Hold your pace when you are tired

Consistency at the end of a race is physical. We train the body to hold performance when it's tired.

Set up your body for karting and sim racing

Karting and long sim sessions load the neck, back and wrists in their own ways. Posture and loading work is planned around the seat you actually race in.

Assess

Physical screening and performance testing to find what is limiting you. Carly takes a full history, examines how you move and load, and measures where it matters, so the plan starts from numbers rather than guesswork.

Plan

A programme built around your goals, your sport and your calendar. You leave knowing what is driving the problem, what you are going to do about it, and how progress will be measured from one session to the next.

Build

Coached sessions and progressive loading, adjusted as you improve. Strength, control and conditioning are built in stages, with the load moved on only when the last stage has been earned.

Return

Back to sport and racing, with objective measures to prove it. The decision to return rests on retesting against your own baseline, so you go back with evidence rather than a feeling.

Motorsport athlete performance questions

Do I need to race professionally to work with Box Box?

No. Carly's motorsport work is built for club and amateur racers, karting, track-day drivers and sim racers. Any driver who wants a neck, trunk and grip that last through a whole race, and who is ready to train with purpose between events, is a good fit for this service.

How much does motorsport athlete performance with Carly cost?

Motorsport athlete performance sessions with Carly cost £150 for 60 minutes. Each hour is one to one and can include screening, coached training and treatment for any niggles. You pay per session and can book by calling 07719 662005 or by sending an email through the contact page.

Where do Box Box motorsport sessions take place?

Sessions run by appointment at three UNTIL clubs in central London: UNTIL Marylebone at 1 Orchard Street W1H 6HJ, UNTIL Canary Wharf at 30 South Colonnade E14 5HX, and UNTIL Soho at 111 Charing Cross Road WC2H 0DT. There are no fixed hours, so contact Carly to find a time around your racing.

Why does a racing driver need neck training?

Sustained lateral G loads the neck lap after lap, and a tired neck makes it harder to hold your head steady and read the track. Carly treats targeted cervical and trunk strength as the foundation of driver conditioning at Box Box, building it gradually alongside grip and heat work.

Can Carly help sim racers?

Yes. Long sim sessions load the neck, back, wrists and forearms, and posture in the rig matters. Box Box looks at how you sit and load in your seat, then builds the strength and endurance to hold good positions, treating any aches that have built up from long sessions.
